Ideas To Celebrate The End of The School Year With SpacesEDU

As we approach the end of another school year, it is often an important time to reflect on the past year. Before students depart for the summer, let’s take the opportunity to build connections with one another.

This blog post shares three ideas to help students reflect on the past school year, connect with their classmates, and build on their personal experiences.

Journal Reflection

At the end of the school year, it’s a great opportunity to ask students to reflect on their past year and their experiences. This allows students to process their experiences as well as build connections from the classroom learning to their own personal lives.

Using SpacesEDU, students can create a journal entry within their individual space to reflect on their school year. Consider a prompt from the following list or have them write their own prompt:

  • My favourite memory from this school year was …
  • One thing that challenged me this school year was …
  • One thing I learned about myself this school year was …
  • What I am most looking forward to next year …
  • I am most proud of … this school year

Virtual Yearbook

Think of this as a yearbook for the whole class to share, but digital! Create an Activity prompting students to add messages through text, share images from their year, or an audio message celebrating the school year. Brainstorm prompts with the class to get started, or use some of the potential prompts below:

  • My favourite memory from this school year was …
  • Thanks … for …
  • This year I overcame …
  • This year I learned that …

A Note To Future Self

For any students that are returning to school the next year, have them write a letter to themselves to read on their first day of school. This is a great opportunity to have students reflect on their current school year and build excitement for their future.

Teachers can create the Activity in SpacesEDU and have students complete it before the end of the year. Once students have submitted their Note To Future Self Activity, it will be kept within SpacesEDU and shared with the next teacher to deliver the following school year.

Try starting the letter using the following questions:

  • What is one thing you learned about yourself this school year?
  • What is one piece of advice you would give to yourself to start the next school year on the right foot?
