Vicksburg Warren School District Partners with SpacesEDU to Support Career Readiness and Student Success

SpacesEDU by myBlueprint is excited to announce our partnership with Vicksburg Warren School District (VWSD), a public school district serving about 7,000 students in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Together, we’re supporting the district’s ongoing work to help students prepare for life after graduation.

This partnership represents a broader effort already underway at VWSD. The district has been especially intentional about bringing schools, families, businesses, and community organizations together around a shared commitment to student growth and future readiness.

“Guided by the district’s Strategic Framework, VWSD has prioritized creating a shared vision, strengthening collaboration and support systems, and increasing community engagement to ensure all stakeholders are aligned around the success of students,” said Dr. Tori Holloway, Superintendent of Vicksburg Warren School District.

This foundation helps VWSD continue building a student experience where growth is visible, meaningful, and connected to life after graduation.

Gil Silberstein, CEO of myBlueprint, shared that “what stood out to me about VWSD is how intentional the district has been in building a shared vision for student success. Their work around career readiness, Portrait of a Graduate, and authentic student experiences is exactly the kind of work SpacesEDU was built to support.” He went on to say that “we’re proud to partner with a district that is creating more meaningful ways for students to document their growth and prepare for what comes next.”

VWSD’s Vision for Preparing Students Beyond Graduation

A major part of that work is the district’s Portrait of a Graduate initiative. By engaging community stakeholders, VWSD has worked to define the skills and competencies students need to succeed in today’s workforce.

That process helped the district build a clearer, shared understanding of what student success should look like. It also reinforced a belief that preparation for life after graduation should extend beyond academics. VWSD’s vision includes helping students grow as well-rounded individuals, alongside their academic development.

The Need for a More Meaningful Way to Capture Student Learning

As VWSD’s vision started to take shape, the district recognized a need for a better way to not only capture but also communicate student learning beyond just test scores.

As the district began expanding its college and career academy model and continuing to strengthen its focus on Portrait of a Graduate competencies, it needed a system that could document its students’ authentic learning experiences over time. Plus, VWSD wanted its students to play a more active role in telling the story of their learning. It was clear that there were valuable experiences already happening across classrooms and programs, but there was a major piece missing: Students needed a way to consistently reflect on those experiences, organize them, and share their growth with teachers, families, post-secondary institutions, and future employers.

VWSD was also looking for a stronger way to connect schools, families, and community partners around student progress. The goal was never to collect artifacts, but rather, make learning more visible while supporting district-wide:

  • Deeper learning
  • Student voice
  • Ongoing reflection

Why SpacesEDU Was the Right Fit

VWSD chose SpacesEDU because the platform aligned with the district’s priorities around student-centered learning, career readiness, and Portrait of a Graduate implementation.

But SpacesEDU’s ability to make learning visible in a way that’s impactful and easy for all to use is what really stood out to the district. VWSD especially liked that their students could use the multimedia feature to document their learning experiences and skill development in a way that reflected their individual strengths, instead of relying on traditional assessments to demonstrate their growth. This was especially important as VWSD is continuing to build authentic learning experiences connected to its learning communities and workforce partnerships.

“We also appreciated the platform’s emphasis on reflection, feedback, communication, and growth over time,” shared Dr. Tori Holloway. “SpacesEDU supports collaboration among students, teachers, families, and administrators while giving students ownership of their digital portfolios and learning stories.”

VWSD also sees the platform as a strong fit for its bigger-picture priorities, including:

  • Project-based learning
  • Career pathway development
  • Durable skill assessment

But all in all, the district views SpacesEDU as more than a technology tool.

“We saw SpacesEDU not simply as a technology tool, but as a platform that supports culture change around how student success is documented and celebrated,” said Dr. Holloway.

What Success Looks Like Over Time

In terms of VWSD’s long-term goals, they’re planning to build a system where students can document and reflect on their growth and overall readiness for life after they graduate. Specifically, the priority is to have their students leave with a digital portfolio that shows who they are, not only academically and professionally but also personally.

Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, VWSD will focus on implementation, awareness, and building comfort with the platform. This includes:

  • Introducing students and staff to practices for digital documentation and reflection
  • Building consistency in portfolio usage across participating schools and learning
  • Helping teachers bring reflection and evidence collection into their daily instruction
  • Increasing family visibility into student learning experiences
  • Setting baseline expectations for portfolio use
  • Reinforcing student voice and ownership

By year three, VWSD hopes digital portfolios will be embedded in the culture across the district. The vision includes:

  • Stronger alignment with Portrait of a Graduate competencies
  • Broader use of portfolios in student-led conferences
  • Capstone experiences
  • Internships
  • Career pathway presentations
  • Continued growth in students’ reflection, communication, and goal-setting skills

We’re grateful to partner with Vicksburg Warren School District in this work and excited to support the district as students build portfolios that reflect who they are and where they’re headed.
